Week 17 – 23-28 May
Another good week at work. its always a good week : ) We are reissuing drawings at a site meeting next Tuesday, so spent a few hours updating these plans. Tried picking up some plans at south peninsula council but the guy that gets plans from town to S.P was off the whole week : ). the thing is they said it would be ready in a week. i went after a week. One small slip up on there side. they are good, or better than the other "building and plans" offices i've heard. With our new jobs starting there'll be less updating and more well, other drawings to do! :)

Week 16 – 16-20 May
Voting week! Well done to all of you who voted. Today, Friday 20th May, my first measuring up day. Went really well and went quicker than my employer had thought which is good we didn’t waste any time. And went to the site meeting on Tuesday, which lasted only an hour. On this project the Rib and block system was used. Then concrete was poured over with water pipes in the mix for under floor heating. They’ve bricked out the room positions and have started building the first floor walls, so its looking really good. On a different site they are almost done and the client moves back in next week. This house has a country feel and has the most amazing kitchen cupboards:). Absolutely love them. Adios :)
Week 15 – 9-13 May
Another new job this week:). Busy bee time in our quaint office.
Working in the residential side of things means I look at my house with a completely different mind. There are things missing. I have a really low tech house and yet have never seen it that way. There’s no insulation in the roof and we could do with some under floor heating :).
Week 14 – 2-6 May
Four days at work and Cape Town is being awakened slowly after the Easter holidays. Easter eggs and pickled fish were eaten and some work got done. And we have a new client by referral. My employer is good at what she does.Really awesome having free advertisement! Word of mouth the best form.:)
Week 13 – 25-29 April
I was given Tuesday off, a school holiday :) for me. So I only worked two days because of the holidays. Worked on some details and elevations and stuff. Heritage at council decided to close until the 3rd of May (inconvenient) and we couldn’t get paint samples because certain parts of Cape Town come to a stand still at Easter time. Then came Friday…The Royal Wedding. My employer is British so she watched the wedding AND I got to watch it too! And we had scones with the yummiest cream on. And left work two hours earlier.
The shortest week to date, but still obviously a pretty good one!
Te mino despues (see you later-from google:))
with love
*sara :)
Week 12 – 18-22 April
I have specs(specifications) coming out of my ears, but that’s good I guess. I need to know what’s good, better and best in the building supplies market :) and anything else that’s somehow related to a building. This week it was basins, taps, tiles, wc’s, paint, wash troughs, geysers, etc. Call me if you need to know about the best of the Hansgrohe collections, I’m kidding. Don’t call! It’s also Good Friday, so I’m feeling good and thankful for these opportunities (being able to work and study). I’m not Christian, but I do appreciate the day’s meaning.
I also would like to learn Spanish someday just a btw kinda random thought, so Adios…
Week 11 – 11-15 April
Need to move your water meter off your property? It could cost you an arm and a leg, like I was told. But you could say it was in an inconvenient place on your property and the meter reader guy can’t access it during the day because no one’s at home, :) Uhm okay we’ll do the latter. And this way it only costs R540 and some cents.
On the drawing side of things there isn’t much to talk about. Still working hard to keep clients happy. My employer worked previously at a larger firm and says its tougher working the residential side of things.
Fast-easy-week. Adios!
