Made my way to HWC (Greenmarket Square) this week. One of our projects has to go through heritage because it is older than 60 years. We need approval @heritage before we can get them approved at council. This process takes much longer now that they do not work “over the counter.” You now need to drop off your plans and then they’ll contact you.
Working in at a small firm I means get to mingle with the clients. I do not make design decisions but your input COULD just steer them in the right direction. Didn’t happen yet. :) Working closely with clients renovating houses means they change their mind a lot about how things should be. We’ve been privileged enough :) to get quite a few engineers as clients. Who are on site more than us, checking every little detail.
We make use of independent land surveyors, quantity surveyors and structural engineers and my employer acts as project manager and checks up on the various sites regularly.
Adios! :)
